The effects of Fe@C nanoparticles on the lithium storage performance of VS4 anode

2018
Abstract Fe@C-VS 4 /RGO composite is synthesized via ball-milling the mixture of VS 4 /RGO and Fe@C nanoparticles, and exhibits better electrochemical stability than the pristine VS 4 /RGO. Through the CV, galvanostatic tests in different potential range, and DFT calculation, it is found that metal nanoparticles play positive effects on the redox reactions of VS 4 , which can restrain the irreversible reactions between polysulfides and ester based electrolytes, and catalyze the conversion of Li 2 S into S. our results provide a new strategy to improve the electrochemical stability of sulfur/sulfides electrodes in carbonate ester electrolytes via the incorporation of metal nanoparticles.
