TeleMate: A new development in force-reflecting telerobots

As nuclear fusion energy matures, new and formidable challenges are being faced because of dimensional constraints, diversity of maintenance operations, and the geometrically intricate equipment arrangements. A new servomanipulator system, called TeleMate, has been developed to contribute to this needed capability. This development includes significantly upgrading the mechanical system and incorporating a new custom state-of-the-art distributed digital control system to produce a flexible system that can be configured for numerous remote maintenance applications.
