2021
The article aims to identify new cultural practices and participation in Poles’ culture forced by the Covid-19 pandemic state of emergency. The pandemic limitations significantly influenced Poles’ inclination to use the offer of material components of Polish culture, including various types of national heritage and cultural goods. Digitization of museum collections, movable and immovable monuments and archaeological sites, and collections of libraries, archives, and art exhibitions became an alternative to increasing cultural competence for traditional forms of contact with culture. The analysis included source materials from cultural institutions in Poland and reports on Poles’ cultural practices before and during the pandemic. It allows a comparative study of the society’s inclination to choose traditional and virtual forms of participation in culture and identify directions of changes in the perspective of returning to the state of “normality.”
