Study on Infrared Property and Crystallization Kinetics of Calcium Aluminate Glass

2011
Calcium aluminate glass is a good candidate of infrared material. However, the residual OH-in calcium aluminate glass and the poor glass-forming ability of calcium aluminate glass restrict its application. The infrared property and crystallization kinetics of calcium aluminate glass were studied. The results showed that the calcium aluminate glass fabricated by RAP has an excellent infrared transmittance owing to lower OH-concentration(only 0.19×1018 cm-3).The activation energies of crystallization obtained from Kissinger model of the first exothermal peak and the second exothermal peak of calcium aluminate glass are 369.8 kJ/mol and 522.7 kJ/mol,respectively.The crystallization exponents of the both peaks are approximately 2,indicating the surface controlled crystallization during its from amorphous to crystalline.
