Minimizing solar array switching noise in CARTOSAT-2 series spacecraft
2016
CARTOSAT-2 series is an advanced Cartographic satellite carrying four high resolution earth imaging payloads: PAN, MX EVM1 and EVM2. During satellite integration and testing phase, a set of tele-commands pertaining to power system not responded. It was attributed to E-field noise coupling from the adjacent harness. This noise was generated by switching of solar array strings and then getting coupled to power control package. This paper describes the problem, analysis and the corrective action to reduce the coupled noise.
