: The epidemiologic association between hypertension and left ventricular failure is well established, and the hemodynamics of this relationship are well defined. From a clinician's standpoint, perhaps the most important fact to keep in mind is that effective control of the predisposing hypertensive disease can reduce the consequent congestive heart failure by as much as 90%.
