A platform for cooperative creation by which to organize research consortia in the field of healthcare through governmental-academic-industrial collaboration

1999
Osaka Science and Technology Center (OSTEC) is a nonprofit organization under the auspices of the Science and Technology Agency and Ministry of International Trade and Industry. One of our major tasks is promotion to found projects by coordination among governments, universities, and industries. As an industrial body supported by about 700 enterprises, OSTEC is aware of the necessity of fostering various kinds R&D promotion programs and publicizing them widely. Further, OSTEC acknowledges the importance of developing effective systems to identify new applications of research results, to present R&D themes for proposal to the governmental programs, and to facilitate feedback on research results to the relevant industrial fields. To develop a "platform for cooperative creation (co-creation)" by which to organize research consortia in the field of healthcare comprising governments, universities, and industries so that they can jointly engage in research programs provided by governments, we have analyzed our past projects and clarified the problems lay ahead. We have devised the healthcare project in the term of a platform for cooperative creation based on the comparative analysis of the experiences in R&D management.
