Synthesis and characterization of α, ω-bis(maleimide-ester) and α, ω-bis(maleimide-amide) substituted polysiloxanes

2002
Organofunctional polysiloxanes containing end aromatic ester or amide groups were synthesized by the hydrosilation of ring substituted styrene with hydrogen terminated polydimethylsiloxane (HPDMS) followed by chemical transformation of the resulting products. End phenylmaleimide groups were attached to the siloxane chains by coupling of -Ar-OH or -Ar-NH 2 functionalized polysiloxanes with N-(p-carboxyphenyl)maleimide chloride. The structures of intermediate and final compounds were confirmed by IR and 1 H-NMR spectroscopy and the thermal behavior was evidenced by DSC.
