A New Interleaved Pulsed Power Converter Topology with Improvement of Response Speed

2019
This paper presents a new interleaved pulsed power converter (P-IPPC) topology with improvement of current response speed for high-power semiconductor laser. The proposed P-IPPC topology consists of an interleaved converter, auxiliary circuit and pulse forming circuit, improving the current response speed and reducing output current ripple. The basic concept of this technology is to store energy in inductor by precharge method and releasing energy instantly to obtain a fast current rising edge response. Meanwhile, an auxiliary circuit is added to solve the problem of difficult digital pre-charge control of fast current response. As the driving load is stopped, the inductance energy is fed back to the power supply to realize the fast cutting off of the load current. MATLAB/Simulink simulation software is used to verify the proposed topology and pre-charge method. The simulation results show that the proposed topology and pre-charging method are effective. Compared with the conventional buck interleaved pulsed power converter topology, the current response speed is improved, and the problem of inductor limited current response speed is solved as well.
