Fractures of the calcaneus

Summary 1. A series of one hundred consecutive cases of recent fracture of the calcaneus has been analysed. 2. The internal structure of the bone is briefly considered and the mechanism of compression fracture of the calcaneus is described. 3. The radiological examination of the injured bone is considered and the value of Anthonsen's projection is emphasized. 4. Two groups of fracture are discussed in detail, namely, ( a ) fractures with displacement of the posterior articular facet in part or in whole: and ( b ) those with diminution of the salient angle but no joint involvement.
