What are your most significant practical professional problems

Teachers can play a pivotal role in their own professional development and the collaborative improvement of teaching and the curriculum in their schools. The necessary enabling conditions and challenges can be provided by research/ partnership projects that have certain characteristics. This article offers a series of evaluative questions about the desirable characteristics to guide critical reflection on such projects. The questions are derived from the Nottingham Evidence Based Teaching project in primary science. Examples of teachers action research in the EBT project are described briefly as illustrations of the ideas presented, and references to their work (published elsewhere) are provided.
