An Improved 24/14 Poles Stator Wound-Field Flux-Switching DC Generator Based on Virtual Coil Flux Linkages

2019
An improved 24/14 poles stator wound-field fluxswitching (SWFFS) DC generator is designed in this paper for the automobile auxiliary power unit (APU) application. Compared with the conventional SWFFS DC generator, this improved SWFFS DC generator possesses higher power density. This advantage is attributed to two aspects. On the one hand, the SWFFS generator topology with unequal stator pole pitch is proposed to enhance the power density by changing the flux linkages’ phases of the equivalent armature coils based on the virtual coil flux linkages. On the other hand, the distinct stator slots, unparallel stator tooth and unparallel stator slots are adopted to optimize the key dimension parameters more effectively, which contributes to improve the power density further. The improved topology and optimization principles are analyzed in detail by 2D finite-element method, which verifies the advantage and feasibility.
