Implementing a Nursing Pre-Procedural Phone Call Initiative

2015
Traditionally, hepatic procedures have almost exclusively been done byway of femoral access. Evidence-based practice has shown that radial access is more comfortable and cost-effective for patients and practitioners. Using radial access in hepatic procedures allows patients to position more effectively for comfort, both during and especially post-procedurally; realizes a cost saving for the department as conventional closure devices are not necessary; and decreases the numbers of nursing hours necessary to monitor the patient post-procedurally.
