Glossary of Footwear and Biomechanics Terminology, English–Chinese–English

2009
Most of the world's footwear is made in China and much of the business of making footwear and testing footwear products and components is communicated primarily in Chinese and English. In recent years footwear-related research in Chinese-speaking countries has grown exponentially and will soon rival the West in the volume of published footwear science. Despite the shared linguistic dominance of Chinese and English in this industry and in related scientific endeavors, there is no published or widely available glossary of common technical terms. To remedy this we have compiled 436 of the most prevalent technical terms used in shoe making and in footwear biomechanics and provided translations in Chinese and English. The Chinese is provided in simplified characters and in Pinyin with tone numbers to aid in pronunciation.
