Enhance the output power of a high power FEL by using a higher repetition rate

Abstract Under the condition that the average current of the electron beam is kept a constant with a certain RF power, the influence of peak current or repetition rate of the electron pulse on the output power of a FEL oscillator based on the parameters of Jlab Demo FEL is studied with the help of our FEL codes. It is found that it is more effective and useful to enhance the output power and efficiency of a high power FEL by using a higher repetition rate PACS codes: 41.60.Cr, 42.60.Lh, 41.75.Ht
