The invention relates to a controller and method for relieving a driver when driving a vehicle, the driver performs an inquiry to a control, whether the control may take over a part function of guiding the vehicle at least, said controller after the request checks whether at least a predetermined parameter is satisfied, wherein the control takes over the guidance of the partial function of the vehicle when the specified parameter is met.
