Evolution récente et perspectives d'avenir de la stimulation et de la défibrillation cardiaque

1997
Cardiac stimulators now have a much wider range of application, and are used not only to revive sluggish cardiac frequencies, but also to remedy alternations of excessive fast and slow heart beats. Cardiac stimulator technology has advanced greatly in recent years. Cases are more compact; the sealing is better; lithium cells afford extended range; and the devices integrate new features for programmability and memory access. Similar developments have been achieved in miniaturization and sophisticated features for defibrillators. Both types of device are invaluable because they minimize medication and hospitalization requirements.
