Analytical Channel Modelling of Synchrophsor Communication Networks in a Smart Grid Cyber Physical System

In recent times, smart grid cyber physical system (SGCPS) has been of paramount interest for researchers from academia and industry. The edifice of the SGCPS is the synchrophasor communication network (SCN) through which synchrophasor data are communicated across several sensors and actuators of the SGCPS. This paper proposes a pragmatic approach for the analytical channel modeling of the SCNs in the SGCPS. The proposed analytical model uses two performance metrics: packet delivery ratio (PDR) and average-end-to-end delay (AE2ED). The proposed analytical model is validated in MATLAB in terms of PDR and AE2ED against the background traffic, which mimics the behaviors of a realistic network.
