Exosomes and microRNA-223 at the Intersection of Inflammation and Fibrosis in Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

2021
Nonalcoholic fatty liver and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) are the most common causes of liver disease. Progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) to NASH is mediated by multiple signals that include activation of inflammatory cells, such as neutrophil leukocytes, monocytes, and macrophages, in the liver and fibrotic processes due to stellate cell and myelofibroblast activation.(1).
