Elastic and inelastic proton scattering from 109Ag

1970
Abstract The elastic and inelastic scattering of 13 MeV protons from 109 Ag has been studied. Angular distributions have been measured between the angles of 23° and 165° for particles scattered from the ground state and excited states at 0.311, 0.415, 0.702, 0.863, 0.912, 1.091, 1.26, 1.324, 1.51, 1.61, 2.15 and 2.23 MeV. The magnitudes and shapes of the angular distributions were compared with the predictions of the core-excitation model. For the states which appear to be due to coupling the odd proton to the one-phonon quadrupole and octupole states of the even core, the experimental cross sections were fitted by the DWBA approximation. Differential cross sections of the states attributed to excitation of the one- and two-quadrupole phonon states of the even core have been compared to the predictions of the coupled-channel theory with the assumption that only a p 1 2 . proton is coupled to the core. Reasonable agreement between experiment and theory was obtained, provided an admixture of one- and two-quadrupole phonon 2 + states was allowed.
