Method and system for avoiding IP address conflict, DHCP server and DHCP client

The invention discloses a method and a system for avoiding an internet protocol (IP) address conflict, a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server and a DHCP client. The method comprises the following steps that: a DHCP server distributes an IP address to a DHCP client according to a request of the DHCP client and receives an IP address conflict message that carries a conflicting IP address and is sent by the DHCP client on the condition that the DHCP client has detected that the distributed IP address is the same as that of the other equipment; and the DHCP server carries out processing on the conflicting IP address according to the IP address conflict message and redistributes an IP address to the DHCP client according to the request of the DHCP client. According to a technical scheme of the invention, when there is an IP address conflict in a network, it can be ensured that a DHCP client can rapidly detect and avoid the IP address conflict, so that normal and stabilization of the network can be rapidly recovered.
