The invention provides a remote control system for identifying and sensing a user and a method thereof. The remote control system comprises a television set and a remote controller. The method of the remote control system for identifying and sensing the user comprises steps of acquiring sensing data of the user from multiple sensors in the remote controller, pre-processing the sensing data, and determining a user identification space by using a preset statistical algorithm, the user identification space including multiple possible user identities. The method of the remote control system for identifying and sensing the user also comprises steps of determining whether a predominant possible user identity exists or not, and if not, selecting one or more possible user identities from the user identification space, updating the user identification space until one predominant possible user identity exists, and taking the predominant possible user identity as the user identity to present to other applications.
