Expression of leptin and leptin receptor in lung carcinoma

Objective To study the expression of leptin and leptin receptor in lung carcinoma. Methods The expression of leptin and leptin receptor protein was detected in 60 cases of pulmonary malignant tumor tissues and 30 cases of pulmonary benign lesion tissues by immunohistochemistry. The different expression between pulmonary benign lesion and pulmonary malignant tumors was compared. The correlation between their expression and clinical pathological parameters was analyzed as well. Results The expression rates of leptin and leptin receptor in pulmonary benign lesion were 33.3% (10/30) and 30.0% (9/30) while the rates in lung carcinoma were 73.3% (44/60) and 71.7% (43/60),respectively, which was associated with metastasis and TNM stage.Conclusion Leptin and leptin receptor were expressed highly in lung carcinoma,which may participate in the process of lung cancer development.
