Robust optimization-based energy management of AC microgrids

2020
Abstract In this chapter, the robust optimization method is used to solve the energy management problem of AC microgrids (MGs) to get the appropriate realization of AC MGs against power price uncertainty. The problem is formulated as robust mixed-integer nonlinear programming and results are presented in two strategies, deterministic and robust optimization. To reduce total operating cost, demand response (DR) providers, and reduction of industrial loads are considered in the case study. To show the impact of such programs, the problem in each strategy is solved in two cases, with- and without-DR. In order to evaluate the performance of the developed method, a modified IEEE 33-bus system is utilized including wind turbines, photovoltaic systems, distributed generation units, and battery storage systems, which are optimally located in the system. In the considered case study, optimal reserve of the system is provided besides the optimal scheduling of the system components.
