Performance Enhancement and Analysis of TCP over WLAN

IEEE 802.11 is proposed to support delivery of radio data packets in WLAN( Wireless LAN). The basis of 802.11 MAC(Medium Access Control) is DCF(Distributed Control Function) .This paper proposes DCF+ to improve the performance of TCP (Transport Control Protocol) over WLAN. To analyze the performance of DCF and DCF + , this paper also introduces an analytical model to compute the saturated throughput of WLAN. DCF + is shown to be able to improve the performance of TCP over WLAN both by modeling and simulations.
