Persuasive design for more energy saving behavior considering users psychological factors

Persuasive design has been used in product and information system design for persuading users to more sustainable behavior. Recently, more product and information systems have adopted the persuasive design for persuading users to more energy saving behavior. Application examples include home energy management systems, information systems offered by utility companies, and some apps on social media. This study finds appropriate persuasive design strategies for the purpose considering users psychological factors as well as demographical factors. A survey is conducted for identifying effective design strategies for different types of users with various psychological profiles. The results with statistical analysis can be used for determining optimal design strategies for different target users.
