2-Pyrilideniminobenzohydroxamic Acid as Analytical Reagent for the Spectrophotometric Determination of Vanadium(V)
2010
The synthesis and analytical properties of 2-pyrilideniminobenzohydroxamic acid (2-PIBHA) as well as its reactivity with inorganic ions are described.
The reaction between 2-PIBHA and vanadium(V) was studied and two new methods for the determination of vanadium(V) are proposed: one in methanol-water medium (40:60%, V:V) and the other one using an extraction in isoamyl alcohol. Fundamental characteristics of the first one are: λ=487 nm, β=3518 1.mol−1.cm−1
application range: 3 to 8 ppm of V(V), Sandell sensitivity (1): 1.4×10−2 μg V(V) cm−2 and for the other one: λ=485 nm, π=5080 1.mol−1.cm−1, application range: 0.6 to 1.6 ppm of V(V) and Sandell sensitivity: 1.02×102 μg V(V) cm−2 (refered to the aqueous phase).
Both methods were applied with sucess to the determination of vanadium(V) in steel.
