MOSSBAUER STUDY OF CORROSION PRODUCTS IN THE NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS

1990
Corrosion products formed in the different parts of nuclear power plants are identified using Mossbauer spectroscopy. Both, compact and powder samples were investigated. Mossbauer experiments at room temperature identified corrosion products as predominantly nonstoichiometric ferrous, cation deficient magnetite and lepidocrocite. In some samples small quantities of goethite and hematite were found.
