Host Index to the Second Supplement of the Synoptic Catalog for the Hymenoptera of America North of Mexico

1974
This host index for the Second Supplement to the Synoptic Catalog of the Hymenoptera (Krombein and Burks 1967) follows the general format of the index prepared by Butler and Santana for Monograph No.2 and its First Supplement (Muesebeck et al. 1951, Krombein 1958). Entries are included for both plant and animal host associations; plant hosts are preceded by an asterisk (*). Where genus and subgenus of the host were given in the Supplement, the entry appears in the index under both taxa. When only the family of the host was given, the entry appears after the capitalized family name. In some cases index entries differ from the Supplement citation, e.g., “siricid larvae” would appear under SIRICIDAE, “tortricid larvae” would appear under TORTRICIDAE, etc. In searching for the index entries for a particular arthropod or plant host it is advisable to begin with the genus and proceed through the taxa, particularly subfamily, family, superfamily, and order. Commonly, a host entry will appear more than once on a particular page, so it is worthwhile to scan the entire page for additional entries. Quotation marks (“ ”) indicate a misspelling.
