Cuttlefish Optimization Algorithm based Optimal PI Controller for Performance Enhancement of an Autonomous Operation of a DG System

2020
This paper presents a novel application of the Cuttlefish Algorithm (CFA) to improving the performance of an inverter-based DG system. The inverter has been controlled using vector cascaded control method which depends on the proportional-integral (PI) controller. The proposed CFA is used to control the PI controller parameters. The response surface methodology (RSM) is used to achieve the objective function of the optimization problem. The validity of the system is proved by the simulation results which are achieved using PSCAD/EMTDC. The system is studied under three different operating conditions which are 1) system conversion from grid-connected to islanded mode, and 2) three phase faults during islanded mode. The validity of the proposed controller is proved by comparing its results with the particle swarm optimization (PSO) method results.
