Effect of Ti-substitution on structure and magnetic behavior of CuMn2O4

The spinel compounds of CuMn2-xTixO4 with x = 0.0, 0.25 and 0.50 were prepared in polycrystalline form using solid state reaction method at 950°C. Their phase purity was confirmed as tetragonal distorted spinel with space group I41/amd by fitting the room temperature neutron diffraction (ND) patterns using Rietveld software. However, the lattice parameters of the unit cell in x = 0.25 and 0.50 changes significantly in comparison to CuMn2O4 upon Ti substitution. In addition, the magnetic field dependent magnetization behavior significantly altered particularly below the magnetic ordering temperature in all the derivatives.
