Meal or crumbled feed for layers

Most of the research conducted in the field of feed form, has been done with broilers. For laying hens, this type of research results is scarce and often inconclusive. According to Foch-Henri de Witt, a lecturer in monogastric nutrition at the University of the Free State, this lack of research can partly be contributed to differences in the physiological development of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of mature laying hens compared to young broiler birds and their respective feeding behavior.
