Embedded Design and FPGA Validation of Digital Image Encryption System

To avoid the security vulnerabilities of digital image encryption algorithms implemented by means of pure software,a software and hardware co-design scheme based on an embedded device is introduced.Firstly,a symmetric image encryption algorithm adopting the Logistic map and the Lorenz system is designed and analyzed.Then,an embedded design scheme of the image encryption algorithm based on ARM 7 processor and USB device interface is proposed.Finally,the concrete implementation is given,and it is validated on FPGA.Experimental results indicate that the digital image encryption system can not only process data at the rate of 8.5Mbps in the full speed mode of USB1.1,but also maintain higher key sensitivity and more average of pix values.The overall de-sign scheme of this paper can satisfy the application requirements of a digital image encryption system,and has certain reference values to other encryption systems.
