Development of an interactive gaming solution using MYO sensor for rehabilitation

2018
Aim of this paper is to develop an interactive gaming platform, enabled using myoelectric signal to aid rehabilitation. Rehabilitation therapy are prescribed after surgical treatment or after effect of any cerebrovascular disease like stroke. Conventional rehabilitation process comprising of repetitive exercises and similar gestures can give rise to boredom or depression. The application we aim to develop helps to find a solution by being interactive and gives the user a joyous experience. The application aims at assisting in the process of rehabilitation by use of user's myoelectric signal. ‘Myo armband’ equipped with eight Electromyography (EMG) electrodes is used to retrieve data from the forearm muscle of the user. The interactive application is developed in Visual studio (IDE). Myoelectric interactive games can help in regeneration of lost or attenuated EMG signals in amputee and aid in different rehabilitation program like treatment of cerebral, plasy, stroke, etc, or in design and control of prosthetics and orthotics.
