Effects of combined medications and moxibustion on renal function and urinary β-trace protein in chronic kidney disease of spleen-kidney qi deficiency

2012
Objective To study the effects of combined moxibustion and medications on renal function and urinary β-trace protein in chronic kidney disease of spleen-kidney qi deficiency. Methods One hundred and twenty subjects were randomized into three groups: group A was given essential treatment;group B was given essential treatment + Astragalus Capsule;group C was given essential treatment + Astragalus Capsule + moxibustion group, with a course of 48 weeks. The serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, serum albumin,24-hour urine protein and urinary β-trace protein were detected respectively before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen significantly decreased in the three groups(P0.05,P0.01),with significant decrease in groups B and C than in group A(P0.05).After treatment, the contents of albumin and glomerular filtration rate(GFR) increased markedly in group C(P0.01),with significant differences between the three groups(P0.05,P0.01).The contents of 24-hour urine protein and β-trace protein decreased significantly in group C(P0.05),lower than those in group A(P0.01).Conclusion Combined moxibustion and medications can improve renal function and help chronic kidney disease.
