Effect of Post-harvest Treatments on Aonla (Emblica officinalis Gaertn.) Fruits Stored under Ambient Conditions

The experiment was conducted at the Fruits and Vegetables Preservation Laboratory, Department of Horticulture, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur to find out the effect of GA3, Borax, Potassium meta-bi-sulphite (KMS), CaCl2 (CC), CaNO3 (CN), Iodized salt (IS) and non-iodized (NIS) on physico-chemical changes and shelf-life of aonla fruit. Total fifteen treatments were replicated thrice and the data was analyzed statistically in a completely randomized design under 5 days, 10 days, 15 days and 25 days of storage period. Fruits were treated and stored as regards among the treatments tried as post-harvest experiment proved most effective in respect to increase physico-chemical qualities and shelf-life of aonla fruits. The results showed highest pulp and fiber percentage at 1% CC and maximum juice content, TSS%, acidity, ascorbic acid content was highest at 1.5% CN. Lowest physiological weight loss was at 15% IS and marketability of aonla fruits was best at all treatments except control.
