The Implications of the Characteristics and Limitations of Meaning Psychology

Meaning psychology is a new approach which places'meaning'on the center of psychology,attaches importance to action,emphasizes construction and relation,stresses subjectivity and diversity of mind and behavior,and believes that the key to understand people's mind behavior is their belief and desire.Though it broadens the content and area of psychology and overcomes the problems and limitations of mainstream psychology,it has some deficiencies which aren't gotten over by itself: having relativism and agnosticism,being self-defeating and self-contradiction,misunderstanding meaning,and etc.However,its defects cannot obscure its virtues.Its tolerance and stress on meaning,subjectivity and diversity can enlighten us,which will promote the development of psychology.
