Synthesis and Characterization of Nano-Sized SnO2 Powder

2010
This paper reports the synthesis and characterization of nano-sized Tin oxide (SnO2) powder. A simple chemical co-precipitation method is used for the synthesis of SnO2 powder. Tin chloride (SnCl2 5H2O) and the ammonium hydroxide are used as a starting materials and double distilled water as a carrier. The resulting nano-sized powder was calcinated at different calcinations temperatures and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements. The transmission electron micrographs (TEM) were recorded for these powders. TEM investigations revealed that the particle size is ∼12 nm for the powder which is calcinated at 600°C.
