Steam-Resistivity of Wire Insulating Materials

2007
Steam is a very harsh environment for insulating materials. It is a combination of water and high temperature and sets the materials prone to hydrolysis. The aim of the study was to find suitable magnet wire and suitable connection wires for a hermetically sealed turbo-generator, which is filled with low- pressure steam. Seven differently insulated wires were tested in hot, pressurized water. Suitable wires for both purposes were found.
