Investigation of structural and dielectric properties of La–Ni doped bismuth nano ferrite

2018
In this research work, we have investigated the structural, electric and magnetic properties of La–Ni bismuth multiferroic, Bi1 − xLaxFe1−xNixO3 (x = 0.0, 0.01 and 0.03), synthesized by sol gel auto combustion method. The Rietveld refinement of X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern shows good agreement of calculated and observed values and formation of pure phase of rhombohedral (R3c) structure. Dielectric constant and dielectric loss increase significantly above 300 K, suggests that materials can be used for practical applications at room temperature. Isomer shift (IS) varies from 0.31 to 0.18 mm/s, suggests the dominance of Fe3+ oxidation state. Ferromagnetism increases with the increase in the dopant concentration which may be due to increase in the number of uncompensated spins and suppression of the spiral spin structure.
