Study on 3-D numerical modeling system of storm surge and ocean-dynamic factors(CHINACOAST)I: model structure and setup

Based on the Princeton Ocean Model(POM),the pressure item of the momentum equation in the model is modified with the semi-prognostic method herein,so as to reduce the drift-away during the model running;and then the triply two-way nesting-technique is applied to develop a 3-D storm surge and ocean circulation modeling system called CHINACOAST for the estuary and coastal areas in China.Furthermore,the detailed descriptions are also made on the 3-D governing equations,the initial-boundary conditions and the driving forces for the model,especially,on the multi-rivers freshwater runoffs into the sea,setting of the temperature/salinity boundary,the numerical solution method,the setting of the model parameters,etc.
