Surface Area: Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET)

The BET equation is used for determining the surface area of solids from the nitrogen sorption isotherm at liquid nitrogen temperatures, but the equation has also been used with a wide range of other gases and vapours. This chapter describes details of methods employed for measuring BET surface area of solid materials at ambient temperature and pressure.
