Generator of Short High-Voltage Pulses

2006
Generator of short pulses with characteristic pulse length approximately 1.5 ns and voltage amplitude 500 kV on the generator output has been successfully created and tested. The generator is built on the base of capacitive energy storages with using transformer in Tesla circuit and spark dischargers as high-voltage energy switches. T(TEM)-horn radiator is placed on the generator output. Switching time of output spark discharger of the generator was experimentally obtained to be less than 0.3 ns under breakdown voltage 500 kV. When using T-horn radiator having small directivity, pulse electric field intensity E approximately 100 V/m was obtained at a distance of r approximately 100 m from radiator opening. In this case E(r) was approximately 10 kV. Generators of such a type can be used for energy transmission at a distance with help of radiated electromagnetic pulses, and also for disinfecting treatment of various products in dielectric package by high (strong) pulse electric fields of T-wave.
