Notice of Retraction Immobilization of Anatase TiO2 on Organoclay via W/O Microemulsions for Water Treament

2011
In this study, nanoscale anatase TiO 2 was immobilized on organically modified clay (organoclay) via water-in-oil (W/O) microemulsions at low temperature. In the microemulsion system, organoclay layers were well dispersed in oil phase as supports. Sodium dodecylsulfonate (SDS) and n-hexanol were selected as surfactant and cosurfactant, respectively. Tetrabutyl titanate (TBT) hydrolyzed in hydrochloride solution was used as water phase. Samples were characterized by XRD, SEM and TEM. The results showed that TiO 2 nanoparticles with diameter of about 10nm were uniformly distributed on the surface of organoclay layers. A high photocatalytic activity was obtained due to the uniform dispersion of TiO 2 nanoparticles on organoclay, which increased the number of photoactive center. Also, the adsorption capability of organoclay played an important role in photodegradation of organic compounds in wastewater.
