Baseband Processor in UHF RFID Tags for Customs Application

2012
A digital baseband processor for UHF RFID tags for customs application was designed, which was compatible with ISO 18000-6C protocol.Circuit architecture of digital baseband and module partition was analyzed, and key circuits, such as switch state acquisition and switch state detection-recording circuits, were described in particular. The circuit was implemented in TSMC's 0.18 μm 1P5M mixed-signal CMOS process embedded with EEPROM.Test results showed that the RFID tag had fulfilled all functions specified by the protocol, and it could record key-open times correctly. The circuit had a minimum operating voltage of 1 V,an average current of 6.7 μA and a power consumption of 6.7 μW,and it occupied a chip area of only 710 μm × 320 μm.
