Voluntary Intake, Digestion, and Average Daily Gain by Steers Consuming Bermudagrass Supplemented with Whey, Molasses, and(or) Corn

Abstract Effects of supplementing diets with whey (W) or molasses (M) with or without a moderate level of supplemental corn (C) on feed intake, digestion, and average daily gain by growing cattle consuming bermudagrass were determined. Six Holstein steer calves (144 ± 1.9 kg average trial BW) in a 6 × 6 Latin square consumed bermudagrass hay alone (Control treatment) or were supplemented with (dry matter basis) dried whey (.15% of BW), dried molasses product (.25% of BW, 69% molasses), and(or) ground corn (.5% of BW).
