A new azafluorene alkaloid from Miliusa balansae

A new azafluorene alkaloid, 5,6,7,8-tetramethoxyl onychine, has been isolated from Miliusa balansae. Its structure has been established on the basis of spectral analysis. The known compounds obtained from the plant are liriodenine, (-) caseamine, oncodine, polyfothine and 6,7-dimethoxy-5-hydroxyonychine.
