Gender Recognition Based on Social Networks for Multimedia Production

The proliferation of social media enables the development of innovative services for extracting insights about audience behaviour dynamics. Social media analytics allow the identification of demographics and interests of audiences that are valuable data considered by content producers, in principle driving the overall multimedia production process. This paper introduces and evaluates a lightweight and efficient mechanism for identifying Twitter users' gender that is coupled with content trend discovery and is exploited within multimedia production.
