Development of probes for electrochemical measurement of free oxygen content in liquid steel and its application

Abstract A newly-developed, practical oxygen probe was used in the BOF, the ladle and the mold. It was found that ingot-surface blowholes decreased with the increase of dissolved oxygen in rimmed steel and that the amount of metallic aluminium in liquid steel can be controlled by controlling the dissolved oxygen.
