The use of bacteriophages for prevention of infections in the surgical area at free skin grafting

2019
The purpose of the study : prevention of infectious complications in the field of skin plastics by immobilization of bacteriophages relevant for the medical organization in the field of recipient wounds. Materials and methods . A method has been developed in which bacteriophages are immobilized in the area of operation with a hydrogel dressing prepared ex tempore. To monitor the viability and effectiveness of bacteriophages in hydrogel dressings, they performed in vitro and in vivo bacteriological studies. Results. It has been revealed that bacteriophages retain viability, bioavailability and lytic activity in a hydrogel dressing for 4-5 days. The possibility and safety of the use of bacteriophages for the protection of a cleaved autodermal transplant from hospital infection has been confirmed. Conclusions . The use of bacteriophages for the prevention of local infectious complications with free skin grafting is promising and technically possible.
